San Diego FC made a notable roster move Friday, locking up Tunisian national team player Elias Achouri on a contract that runs through the 2028-29 season.
The 27-year-old, who plays both forward and midfielder, will need to clear a visa hurdle before he can officially suit up for the club.
Achouri was a consistent presence for Tunisia at the recently wrapped-up World Cup, appearing in all three of the nation’s group-stage contests. Over his international career, he has recorded four goals across 33 appearances for Tunisia.
San Diego FC sporting director Tyler Heaps expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition in a news release. “We’re excited to welcome Elias to San Diego FC,” Heaps said. “He is a player with experience competing at a high level in both European club competitions and on the international stage, and we believe he’ll be a strong addition to our group.”
Heaps added that the signing aligns with the team’s broader ambitions. “This signing reflects our continued commitment to building a roster that can compete at the highest level, and we’re looking forward to integrating Elias into our environment.”
Prior to this move, Achouri spent three seasons playing for Copenhagen in the Danish Superliga, where he tallied 12 goals over 116 appearances across all competitions.
