CF Montreal landed defender Brayan Ceballos from the New England Revolution on Friday, sending up to $850,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) back to New England in return.
The financial package breaks down as $500,000 in 2026 GAM, $250,000 in 2027 GAM, and as much as $100,000 in conditional GAM. As part of the agreement, the Revolution held onto a share of sell-on rights in the event Ceballos is transferred to another club down the road.
Montreal’s managing director for recruitment and sporting methodology, Luca Saputo, issued a statement praising the acquisition. “Brayan is a reliable and versatile defender who can play effectively in a variety of systems, making him an important addition to our roster,” Saputo said. “His strengths will complement those already present in our defensive unit. We are confident that he will contribute to our collective objectives as well as the team’s development.”
Ceballos, who is 25 years old, joined the Revolution in January 2025 after arriving from Brazilian club Fortaleza EC. During his time in New England, he appeared in 38 career matches, starting 37 of them, and scored three goals — two of which came in a single outing on March 15 of this season against Cincinnati.
Revolution general manager Chris Tierney expressed appreciation for the player’s time with the club. “We are grateful to Brayan for all his contributions during his time in New England. We wish him all the best in Montreal,” Tierney said. “As we look to continue improving the first team, generating this significant amount of allocation money will allow us to continue investing in the roster in the future.”
