Tropical Depression Two continues to meander slowly in the Gulf of Mexico, with forecasters keeping a close eye on the system as it drifts in an unpredictable northwestward direction.
According to the National Hurricane Center, as of 4:00 PM CDT on Monday, July 20, the center of the depression was located near coordinates 28.7 degrees north latitude and 85.8 degrees west longitude. The storm was moving northwest at just 3 miles per hour.
The depression had maximum sustained winds of approximately 35 mph and a minimum central pressure of 1005 millibars at the time of the report.
To get a better picture of the storm’s structure and potential, Air Force Reserve and NOAA aircraft are scheduled to fly into the system later this evening to conduct reconnaissance.
Residents along Gulf Coast areas should continue to monitor updates from the National Hurricane Center as the storm’s track becomes clearer.
