Federal safety regulators announced Tuesday that Nissan is recalling 168,149 vehicles across the United States because the Gross Axle Weight Rating listed on their certification labels is incorrect — a problem that could lead to vehicles being overloaded beyond safe limits.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the recall involves certain Nissan Armada, Infiniti QX56, and Infiniti QX80 vehicles.
To fix the issue, Nissan dealers will apply corrected labels at no charge to vehicle owners. In addition, Nissan plans to mail replacement labels directly to affected owners, according to the NHTSA.
