The National Weather Service office in Mount Holly, New Jersey has issued an Extreme Heat Warning, in effect from 2:59 PM EDT through 8:00 PM EDT on Tuesday, July 15.
Forecasters are urging residents to take the heat seriously during this period. Extreme heat warnings are issued when dangerously high temperatures pose a significant risk to public health and safety.
Officials typically recommend staying indoors in air-conditioned spaces, drinking plenty of water, and checking on elderly neighbors and family members during extreme heat events. Pets should also be kept cool and given access to fresh water.
Residents should avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the warning period and be alert for signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke, which can develop quickly in extreme conditions.
