A White House official confirmed Friday that U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy are expected to sit down together in Washington this coming Tuesday.
A source from Ukraine indicated that Zelenskiy was open to making the trip to the United States, but noted that his team had not yet received official word from the White House confirming Trump’s availability.
Representatives for the Ukrainian president did not respond in time to a request for comment regarding the planned meeting.
Earlier Friday, right-wing activist and Trump ally Laura Loomer conducted an interview with Zelenskiy, during which she said he indicated he would likely be in the U.S. next week, with a meeting with Trump among the planned activities.
Loomer also shared on X that Zelenskiy told her he planned to attend the funeral of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, who passed away earlier this month.
Graham was widely known as a strong backer of Ukraine, having traveled there ten times following the Russian invasion. He was a vocal advocate for imposing sanctions on Russia and for continued U.S. support of Kyiv.
