Federal authorities arrested social media influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate in Miami on Saturday, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Brady McCarron, a spokesperson for the Marshals Service, confirmed the arrest to The Associated Press, though noted the warrant in the case remains sealed.
Late Saturday, British prosecutors announced they are pursuing extradition of the two brothers to face charges of rape and sex trafficking. According to a statement from the Crown Prosecution Service, the alleged offenses took place between July 2010 and August 2017.
The Tate brothers are dual U.S. and British citizens who relocated to Romania in 2016. They are known for promoting hypermasculinity online and have built massive followings on social media platforms, drawing fans especially among young men and boys through displays of luxury living and openly misogynistic views.
In 2022, the brothers were arrested in Romania on accusations that they participated in schemes to lure women for sexual exploitation. They denied those charges, and the case ultimately did not proceed due to legal and procedural issues.
The United Kingdom charges allege the brothers abused women between 2012 and 2015 in an area north of London, where they grew up. Both brothers were former professional kickboxers. Their attorneys have stated the brothers deny those allegations as well.
