Road Closure Alert: Taylors Bridge Road Shut Down Until 2028 for Bridge Project

TOWNSEND, Del. — The Delaware Department of Transportation has announced a lengthy road closure affecting Taylors Bridge Road in the Townsend area, set to begin Monday, August 3rd and remain in effect through July of 2028.

The closure affects the portion of Taylors Bridge Road between Union Church Road and Fleming Landing Road. The road will be shut down to allow crews to demolish the existing bridge and construct a new one in its place.

Drivers heading southbound on Route 9 — Taylors Bridge Road — who need to connect with Route 9 on the Fleming Landing Road side should follow this detour: turn right onto Fieldsboro Road, then left onto US 13, followed by a left onto Eagles Nest Landing Road, then a left onto Paddock Road, which will lead back to Route 9 at Fleming Landing Road.

Those traveling northbound on Route 9 from Fleming Landing Road who need to reach Taylors Bridge Road should take the reverse path: turn left onto Paddock Road, right onto Eagles Nest Landing Road, right onto US 13, right onto Fieldsboro Road, and continue until reaching Taylors Bridge Road.

Motorists in the area are encouraged to allow extra travel time and follow posted detour signs throughout the duration of the project.
