MILLSBORO, Del. — Drivers in the Millsboro area will need to find an alternate route starting next week as a stretch of Patriots Way is set to close for nearly two weeks.
The Delaware Department of Transportation has announced that Patriots Way between Avenue of Honor and Doe Bridge Lane will be shut down beginning Monday, August 10th and remaining closed through Friday, August 21st, weather permitting. The closure is necessary to reconstruct the travel lanes leading to the new State Police Troop 4 barracks entrance.
DelDOT has outlined detour routes for drivers traveling in both directions:
Motorists headed southbound on Patriots Way should turn right onto Avenue of Honor, then left onto Bethesda Road, which will bring them back to Patriots Way.
Motorists headed northbound on Patriots Way should take a slight left onto Bethesda Road, then turn right onto Avenue of Honor to return to Patriots Way.
Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time during the closure period and to follow all posted detour signage.
