A major new report on global religious freedom is raising serious alarms. International Christian Concern has published its 2026 findings, and the picture it paints is a troubling one for believers around the world.
According to the report, religious expression is facing mounting pressure from governments that are increasingly restricting how faith is practiced. The organization warns that transnational repression, the forced displacement of communities, and ongoing systemic discrimination are all taking a toll on vulnerable populations.
The report states directly that “Governments are increasingly tightening their grip on religious expression while transnational repression, displacement, and systemic discrimination continue to impact vulnerable communities. At the same time, Western technologies and markets are being leveraged to enable or sustain persecution.”
The findings underscore growing concerns among religious liberty advocates that the tools of modern commerce and technology are now being turned against the very communities they could otherwise help.
