Meta Platforms announced Tuesday that it is folding the Xbox Game Pass starter edition into its Meta Horizon+ subscription service, broadening the gaming library available to users of its Quest virtual reality headsets.
The addition deepens an ongoing partnership between Meta and Microsoft’s Xbox brand. Horizon+ subscribers will now have access to more than 50 Game Pass titles on top of the over 100 virtual reality games already included in the service.
Meta Horizon+ is a subscription offering that provides Quest headset owners with a rotating catalog of VR games, monthly game drops, and exclusive discounts on purchases.
Through the newly added Xbox Game Pass starter tier, Horizon+ members will also receive 10 hours of cloud gaming per month. Among the featured Game Pass titles available through the bundle are “Fallout 4,” “Fallout 76,” “Grounded,” “DayZ,” and “Overcooked 2.”
Meta also announced plans to release a gamepad emulator in the coming weeks. The tool will allow Quest Touch controllers to operate like a standard Xbox controller, making it easier to play Game Pass titles on the headset.
In related news from the two companies: Meta raised U.S. prices on its Quest headsets back in April, pointing to increased costs for memory chips and other components. Meanwhile, Microsoft announced earlier this month that it plans to eliminate roughly 3,200 jobs within its gaming division as part of a broader restructuring effort aimed at improving financial returns following years of heavy investment in Xbox, which included its acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
