Houston Rockets Lock Up Tari Eason with 5-Year, $81.5M Deal

Houston Rockets forward Tari Eason is staying put, as multiple reports Thursday night indicate the 25-year-old has reached an agreement on a five-year, $81.5 million contract to remain with the organization.

Eason enters this deal as a restricted free agent. Under the final team option year of his rookie contract, he was slated to earn $5.7 million for the 2025-26 season, according to ESPN, which was first to report the new agreement. The Athletic notes that the fifth and final year of the new deal includes a player option.

During the most recent regular season, Eason put up averages of 10.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.2 steals per game across 60 appearances, including a career-best 34 starts and 25.8 minutes per night. When the postseason arrived, he elevated his game significantly, averaging 13.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 2.5 steals over six playoff games, starting four of them.

Looking at his overall body of work, Eason has averaged 10.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.3 steals in 23.6 minutes per game across 221 regular-season contests — with 55 starts — since breaking into the league in 2022.

Houston originally brought Eason into the fold by selecting him 17th overall in the 2022 NBA Draft.
