Delaware State Police are looking into a deadly single-vehicle crash that took place Sunday afternoon in Dover.
At around 3:10 p.m. on July 26, 2026, a Lexus GX merged onto northbound Bay Road from exit 93 in Dover. According to the preliminary investigation, the vehicle was moving at what appeared to be a high rate of speed and was switching lanes in a reckless manner. The Lexus eventually drifted off the western edge of the roadway, collided with a Jersey barrier along the center median, and flipped onto its side.
The driver, a 27-year-old Dover man who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are withholding his identity until his next of kin can be reached.
Bay Road remained closed for roughly four hours as troopers investigated and cleared the scene.
