Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings announced Monday that she has teamed up with a group of 19 fellow attorneys general and one city to take legal action against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
The lawsuit targets an EPA rule that would loosen existing regulations designed to phase out the use of hydrofluorocarbons, commonly known as HFCs, in commercial equipment. HFCs are chemicals widely used in refrigeration and cooling systems and are considered highly potent greenhouse gases.
The coalition argues the Trump Administration’s rule undermines efforts to reduce the use of these powerful chemicals, which contribute significantly to climate change.
