The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) has announced that beginning Wednesday, July 22, 2026, drivers traveling along South Walnut Street in Wilmington will face lane restrictions on a well-traveled bridge.
DelDOT will shut down one northbound lane and one southbound lane on Bridge 1-686, which carries US 13 Business traffic over Norfolk Southern railroad tracks. Along with the lane closures, the agency is also lowering the maximum weight allowed for vehicles crossing the bridge.
Drivers in the Wilmington area should plan for possible delays and consider alternate routes when traveling along that corridor.
