Citigroup Expands Asia FX Options Desk with Three Senior Trader Appointments in Singapore

Citigroup has added three veteran traders to its foreign exchange options desk in Singapore, the bank announced Tuesday, as part of an effort to enhance its market-making and risk management operations across the Asia-Pacific region.

Eric Poon has been named director on the FX emerging markets options trading team in Asia. He will report to Akshay Saxena, who serves as head of FX options for Asia Pacific. Poon comes to Citi with two decades of trading experience spanning G10 currencies — the ten most widely traded major currencies in the world — as well as Asian emerging market products. He most recently worked at BNP Paribas and previously held positions at OCBC Bank and RBS.

Richeng Zheng has also joined the Singapore desk as a G10 options trader, reporting to director Nicky Lam. Zheng previously worked at Bank of America, where he was the only G10 options book runner operating in the Asia time zone.

A third hire, Ying Zhou, is set to come aboard in August as an emerging markets options trader, also reporting to Saxena. Zhou is transitioning from Deutsche Bank in Singapore, where she specialized in exotic derivatives and foreign exchange options.

The additions are part of Citi’s ongoing effort to build out its global foreign exchange options business. The bank posted strong financial results in the second quarter of 2026, reporting a 17% increase in overall markets revenues to $7.0 billion. Fixed income markets revenue climbed 7% to $4.7 billion, driven in part by higher foreign exchange trading volumes.
