Bus Fire Kills 7 in Southern Vietnam, Trapping Passengers Inside

HANOI — At least seven people lost their lives Tuesday morning after a bus burst into flames in southern Vietnam, according to police officials.

The vehicle was making its way from Lam Dong province toward the nearby major business city of Ho Chi Minh City when it caught fire. Flames spread rapidly through the 24-seat bus, and passengers found themselves unable to escape, according to a statement from the Ministry of Public Security, which is led by police.

Five additional passengers sustained injuries in the incident, state media reported. Authorities have opened an investigation to determine what sparked the fire.
