Tropical Depression Two is showing signs of increased organization as it churns through the Gulf of Mexico, prompting officials to issue new tropical watches for portions of the Gulf Coast.
According to the National Hurricane Center, as of 10:00 AM CDT on Monday, July 20, the center of the storm was positioned near latitude 28.5 North, longitude 85.6 West. The depression was moving to the northwest at a slow pace of just 3 miles per hour.
The storm’s minimum central pressure was recorded at 1007 millibars, with maximum sustained winds of approximately 35 miles per hour.
Forecasters are urging residents along the Gulf Coast to stay informed as the system continues to develop. New watches have been issued for portions of the region as the depression shows potential for further strengthening.
