New Zealand and the Philippines have officially entered into a comprehensive partnership, according to an announcement made Tuesday by New Zealand’s foreign minister, Winston Peters.
Peters described the relationship between the two countries as one built on friendship and mutual trust. “New Zealand and the Philippines are close friends and trusted partners on the world stage — and today we turn this friendship into concrete action,” he said.
Under the new agreement, the two nations will expand cooperation in four key areas: political engagement, defense and security including maritime cooperation, trade and economic relations, and people-to-people connections, Peters noted.
