Samsung Electronics announced Tuesday that it is forming a new robotics division that will answer directly to the company’s chief executive, with the goal of accelerating development and commercialization in the robotics field.
The South Korean technology giant said the new unit, known as RX — short for “Robotics eXperience” — will guide the company’s mid-to-long-term robotics strategy. The division will also oversee core technology development, day-to-day business operations, and an expansion of research efforts both domestically and internationally.
Samsung described the creation of the RX division as part of a broader effort to establish robotics as a major growth engine for the company going forward.
