Swedish defense manufacturer Saab announced Monday that it has landed a massive contract worth 10.1 billion Swedish crowns — roughly $1.04 billion — to deliver two GlobalEye surveillance aircraft to an unidentified country in the Middle East, with deliveries scheduled for 2030.
The GlobalEye aircraft are equipped with both active and passive sensor systems capable of detecting and identifying objects over long distances in real time — whether in the air, on the water, or across land. Saab says the technology gives military operators the ability to monitor their surroundings and spot potential threats early.
Saab CEO Micael Johansson highlighted the deal as a sign of growing confidence in the aircraft’s capabilities. “The increasing international interest in GlobalEye reflects its effectiveness and reliability in modern air defence operations,” he said in a prepared statement.
The company declined to release any additional details about the contract or identify the purchasing nation.
