Quarterback Ty Simpson wrapped up the 2026 NFL Draft class signings on Saturday, inking a deal with the Los Angeles Rams to become the final first-round pick to officially join his new team.
According to NFL Network, Simpson’s rookie contract is a fully guaranteed four-year deal valued at $25.4 million, which includes a $14.9 million signing bonus.
The Rams raised eyebrows across the league back in April when they selected Simpson with the 13th overall pick, despite having reigning NFL Most Valuable Player Matthew Stafford already under center. Many analysts had projected Simpson as a second-round talent rather than a top-15 selection.
During his first season as a starter at Alabama, Simpson put up impressive numbers — throwing for 3,567 yards, 28 touchdowns, and just five interceptions across 15 games. With Stafford, 38, holding down the starting role, Simpson is expected to spend time developing as a backup before taking on a larger role.
Simpson was one of only two quarterbacks taken in the first round of this year’s draft. Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza, the Heisman Trophy winner, went No. 1 overall to the Las Vegas Raiders and signed a four-year fully guaranteed contract worth $57.27 million, which also includes a fifth-year option.
