A newly released international poll shows that attitudes toward same-sex marriage vary dramatically from one country to the next, with some nations overwhelmingly in favor and others almost universally opposed.
Sweden tops the list of countries most supportive of homosexual unions, with 92% of respondents viewing them favorably. The Netherlands ranks second at 89%, followed closely by Spain at 87%.
At the opposite end of the spectrum, Nigeria — a country whose population is divided between Muslims and Christians — shows the strongest opposition, with 97% of respondents against gay marriage. Indonesia, Kenya, and Malaysia also register very high levels of disapproval toward same-sex unions.
