Federal Agency Seeks Renewal of Salmonella Initiative Program Data Collection

A federal food safety agency has announced plans to seek renewal of an existing data collection program tied to Salmonella oversight efforts.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) stated it intends to request renewal of the approved information collection associated with the Salmonella Initiative Program, known as SIP. The agency made the announcement in compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 and regulations set by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

Officials noted that no changes are being made to the information collection as part of this renewal request. The current authorization for the program is scheduled to expire on January 31, 2027.
