Federal aviation authorities are requiring repairs to improperly installed seats found on hundreds of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, warning that passengers could be hurt during an emergency landing if the problem goes unaddressed.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration made the announcement Monday, saying the incorrectly installed seats must be fixed to ensure passenger safety. The agency issued an airworthiness directive outlining a proposed rule that would cover 453 of the jets.
