Dover Church Burglarized Overnight, Significant Interior Damage Reported

The Dover Police Department is looking into a burglary at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, located at 25 Jerusalem Way, that took place in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

Officers were called to the church after damage was found inside the building. The break-in is believed to have occurred between 12:35 a.m. and 1:20 a.m. Investigators determined that an unknown individual gained entry to the church and caused substantial damage throughout the interior, including to a security gate, a sanctuary door, and a window.

A fire extinguisher was also taken from inside the building, though it was later recovered in the area nearby.

At this point in the investigation, detectives have not confirmed that any items were stolen from the church.
