The Department of Justice has circulated a new memorandum to every executive branch agency, revising the rules surrounding religious freedom protections. The updated guidance takes into account recent decisions handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court and breaks new ground by including a section focused on parental rights.
Kelly Shackleford of First Liberty Institute responded positively to the new DOJ guidance, saying it will “ensure that the federal government will respect the religious liberty rights of all Americans when implementing the President’s policies.”
