Delaware AG Secures $150M Settlement Over 23andMe Genetic Data Breach

Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings has announced a major settlement with the bankruptcy trustee for the genetic testing company 23andMe, addressing a significant data breach that occurred in 2023.

The breach compromised the genetic data of approximately 6.9 million customers around the world, raising serious concerns about the protection of some of the most personal information a person can share.

AG Jennings joined forces with 42 other attorneys general from across the United States to secure the agreement. Together, the coalition obtained $150 million in allowed claims on behalf of the states involved in the settlement.
