US Marshals Arrest Andrew and Tristan Tate; UK Seeks Extradition on Rape, Trafficking Charges

The U.S. Marshals Service took brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate into custody on Saturday, the same day Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service announced plans to seek their extradition to face a new set of serious criminal charges.

The CPS said it intends to bring additional charges against Andrew Tate, age 39, and Tristan Tate, age 38, after identifying four more alleged victims. The new charges relate to alleged offenses said to have taken place between July 2010 and August 2017.

Malcolm McHaffie, Head of the Special Crime Division at the CPS, issued a statement outlining the scope of the new charges. “We have decided to prosecute Andrew and Tristan Tate for further offences including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation and offences relating to indecent images of a child,” McHaffie said.

The brothers, who hold citizenship in both the United States and the United Kingdom, have maintained their innocence and denied any wrongdoing.

According to multiple news outlets, the arrests took place in Miami. The U.S. Marshals Service did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

This latest development adds to a growing list of legal troubles for the pair, who have been under criminal investigation in Romania since December 2022.

The Tate brothers built a massive social media following by promoting their views on masculinity and wealth. Andrew Tate has previously referred to himself publicly as a misogynist.

Andrew Tate is also scheduled to appear in a British civil court this year, where four women have brought allegations of physical and sexual abuse against him. The four claimants, who have been granted anonymity, allege the abuse occurred between 2013 and 2015. Two of the women say they were in a romantic relationship with Tate, while the other two worked for his online webcam business.

Andrew Tate denies those allegations as well. His legal team stated in his written defense that the claims are false and that all sexual activity was consensual.
