President Donald Trump signed a proclamation on Monday directing changes to how aluminum imports enter the United States, according to the White House.
As part of the order, the U.S. commerce secretary has been instructed to develop an incentive program targeting companies that are willing to build new aluminum smelters in the country, expand existing ones, or renovate facilities that are already in place.
The White House confirmed the signing of the proclamation but provided limited additional details.
