Tropical Storm Bertha is on the move, and forecasters say the storm has begun turning westward as it pushes dangerous conditions into parts of the Florida Panhandle.
According to the National Hurricane Center, as of 1:00 PM Central Time on Tuesday, July 21, the center of Bertha was positioned near coordinates 29.3 degrees north, 86.8 degrees west. The storm was tracking to the northwest at a slow pace of just 5 miles per hour.
Bertha’s maximum sustained winds were clocking in at approximately 60 mph, with a minimum central pressure recorded at 995 millibars.
Tropical storm conditions were already spreading across portions of the Florida Panhandle within the designated warning area, forecasters noted. Residents in those zones are urged to take precautions as the storm continues its approach.
