Tropical Storm Bertha continues to pose a threat to Gulf Coast communities, with tropical storm watches now stretched westward to cover the far southwestern coast of Louisiana and the upper Texas shoreline.
According to the National Hurricane Center, as of 7:00 AM CDT on Wednesday, July 22, the center of Bertha was positioned near coordinates 29.5 degrees north, 88.5 degrees west. The storm was tracking westward at a relatively slow pace of 5 miles per hour.
Bertha’s minimum central pressure was recorded at 997 millibars, with maximum sustained winds clocking in at approximately 50 miles per hour. Forecasters are continuing to monitor the storm’s track and intensity as it moves toward the Gulf Coast.
