Tropical Storm Bertha has intensified, according to data gathered by Air Force Hurricane Hunters conducting reconnaissance flights over the Gulf of Mexico.
As of 10:00 AM Central Daylight Time on Tuesday, July 21, the center of the storm was positioned near coordinates 29.3 degrees north latitude and 86.3 degrees west longitude. Bertha was drifting in a north-northwest direction at just 3 miles per hour.
The storm’s minimum central pressure was recorded at 995 millibars, with maximum sustained winds reaching approximately 60 miles per hour.
Tropical storm watches and warnings continue to be in place for sections of the northern Gulf Coast as forecasters monitor the storm’s slow progression.
