A tropical depression has formed in the Gulf of Mexico off the west coast of Florida, according to the National Hurricane Center. In response, forecasters have issued a Tropical Storm Watch for the Florida Panhandle.
As of 10:00 AM CDT on Sunday, July 19, the center of the storm — designated Tropical Depression Two — was positioned near latitude 28.0 North, longitude 85.3 West. The system was drifting to the north-northwest at a slow pace of just 2 miles per hour.
The depression had a minimum central pressure of 1011 millibars, with maximum sustained winds of approximately 30 mph. Residents and visitors along the Florida Panhandle should monitor the latest updates from the National Hurricane Center as the storm continues to develop.
