NYC Mayor Says City Can’t Arrest Netanyahu, Calls on Feds to Act

New York City’s mayor stated that while the city does not have the power to carry out an international arrest warrant targeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he believes the federal government should take action to enforce it.

The warrant was issued by the International Criminal Court, the leading global tribunal for war crimes. The mayor made clear that executing such a warrant falls outside the jurisdiction of a city government, but argued that federal authorities have both the ability and the responsibility to act.
