MOSCOW — Russia’s Kremlin stated Monday that it has yet to come across any concrete information about new peace settlement proposals for Ukraine, even as U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy are set to sit down for talks in Washington on Tuesday.
A Ukrainian source revealed last week that American and Ukrainian officials had been working on a proposal for an air ceasefire, with the intention of presenting it to Russian officials as part of a fresh round of peace negotiations.
However, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that the reports amounted to little more than rumor. “It is true that this information emerged a few days ago, but so far it is nothing more than media speculation. There are no specific details on this matter, nor are there any specific details regarding any new proposals or suggestions,” Peskov said.
Peskov also sidestepped questions about Zelenskiy’s claim that Moscow is preparing to receive 30,000 North Korean soldiers in Russia’s Voronezh region, declining to address the assertion directly.
“I don’t think it’s necessary to comment on them,” Peskov said of Zelenskiy’s remarks. “It’s not for Zelenskiy to talk about our plans.”
