One of the American South’s most iconic natural areas has earned a prestigious global designation. The Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia has officially been added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites.
The recognition places the Georgia swamp alongside some of the most treasured natural and cultural locations on the planet, as determined by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
