
A former leader of U.S. Customs and Border Protection is raising questions about the way federal immigration enforcement is being carried out under the current administration.
Gil Kerlikowske, who served as commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection during the Obama administration, spoke with NPR’s Scott Detrow about a series of fatal shootings involving federal immigration agents.
The conversation comes as the Trump administration has intensified its immigration crackdown, drawing increased attention to the tactics being used by federal agents in the field.
