BEIJING — China has launched a series of live-fire military drills covering parts of the Taiwan Strait, according to the country’s Maritime Safety Administration in the southern province of Fujian.
The exercises began Thursday and are scheduled to run through Friday. Each day, the drills are conducted between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. local time, which translates to 2200 GMT through 1000 GMT.
Officials noted that the drill zones are positioned close to the Chinese coastline within the strait.
