The Israel Defense Forces announced Friday that it was looking into a shooting incident near the Havat Gilad outpost in the Samaria region, after reports emerged that a group of Israeli hikers had been attacked by Palestinians, resulting in multiple injuries.
Early information indicated that one of the Palestinians allegedly grabbed a gun belonging to one of the hikers before opening fire. The IDF stated that the full circumstances surrounding the attack were still being investigated.
Israeli emergency medical organization Magen David Adom reported that its teams, working alongside an IDF medical unit, were treating four wounded individuals at the scene of what was being classified as a suspected terror attack near Havat Gilad. Among those injured, one person was reported to be unconscious.
Reports from Palestinian sources indicated that three people sustained serious injuries during the shooting, which took place in the nearby village of Tel, located in the Havat Gilad area of Samaria. Those same reports stated that the firearm allegedly taken from one of the Israeli hikers was later recovered.
Security forces remained on the scene as the investigation into the incident continued.
