The New York Yankees sent right-handed pitcher Elmer Rodriguez down to their Triple-A affiliate in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday.
The 22-year-old had been brought up to the big league roster on Sunday to serve as the designated 27th player during the second game of a split doubleheader against the Los Angeles Dodgers. However, Rodriguez never got into the game before being sent back down.
Since breaking into the majors on April 29, Rodriguez has struggled to find his footing, going 0-2 with a 4.76 ERA while logging 17 innings across four starts at the major league level.
