Venezuela has officially informed the United Nations of its “irrevocable” decision to pull out of the International Criminal Court, according to Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia, who made the announcement on Friday.
Plasencia shared the news in a post on X, explaining that the Venezuelan government believes the court operates with a “geographical bias” that unfairly singles out nations in the Global South — particularly those in Africa and Latin America.
The government framed the withdrawal as a response to what it sees as a disproportionate focus on developing regions, rather than an impartial application of international justice.
