The U.S. Department of Justice is putting up $3 billion in grant money for state and local police departments that agree to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement on federal immigration enforcement operations.
The funding initiative is part of a wider push by the administration to ramp up its mass deportation campaign by enlisting the help of law enforcement agencies at the state and local level.
