Trump Says US and Iran Are in Talks, But No Deal on the Horizon Yet

Speaking to reporters at the White House on Friday, President Donald Trump confirmed that the United States and Iran are currently engaged in negotiations, though he expressed doubt that a final agreement is close at hand.

Trump acknowledged some progress in the tone of the discussions, describing Iran’s approach as more earnest than anything previously seen. However, he stopped short of predicting a breakthrough.

“We are talking to them. I think they’re being serious. I think … they are being by far the most serious that we’ve seen them, but that doesn’t mean we get there. We’ll see what happens,” Trump told reporters.

The president’s comments came amid ongoing diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran to resolve longstanding tensions between the two nations.
