President Donald Trump has officially backed MyPillow founder Mike Lindell in his bid to become Minnesota’s next governor, calling him “one of America’s greatest and most hard working Patriots” in a formal endorsement. The announcement came just one day before Trump was scheduled to deliver a national address he says will center on election security.
Lindell became a nationally recognized figure largely through his extensive television advertising as the face of MyPillow, and he has been among Trump’s most vocal allies. He has repeatedly echoed Trump’s debunked claims that Trump’s 2020 presidential loss to Democrat Joe Biden was the result of widespread fraud.
“Mike will be SPECTACULAR!!! He truly loves Minnesota, as do I, and wants to bring it back from oblivion and embarrassment. He can do it!” Trump wrote Wednesday on his Truth Social platform.
Trump has been sharply critical of outgoing Gov. Tim Walz, who was the Democratic Party’s vice presidential nominee in 2024, labeling him as incompetent and accusing his administration of allowing widespread fraud in federal childcare spending. Trump has also used racially charged language targeting Minnesota’s Somali immigrant community in connection with those fraud allegations. Walz has pushed back against the Trump administration’s claims and characterizations.
