Tropical Storm Bertha continued to pose a threat to Gulf Coast communities on Tuesday, with tropical storm conditions already spreading westward into coastal sections of the Florida Panhandle.
Forecasters also extended tropical storm watches and warnings further west along the Louisiana coast as the storm’s reach grew.
As of 4:00 PM Central Daylight Time on Tuesday, July 21, the center of Bertha was located near coordinates 29.4 degrees north latitude and 87.2 degrees west longitude. The storm was moving to the northwest at approximately 6 miles per hour.
Bertha’s minimum central pressure was measured at 995 millibars, with maximum sustained winds of about 60 miles per hour.
Residents along the Gulf Coast from the Florida Panhandle westward into Louisiana should continue to monitor the latest updates from weather officials as the storm advances.
