Tropical Storm Bertha continues to track westward, with forecasters warning that tropical storm conditions are expected to persist along the northern Gulf Coast.
According to the National Hurricane Center, as of 4:00 AM CDT on Wednesday, July 22, the center of Bertha was positioned near coordinates 29.4 degrees north, 88.3 degrees west. The storm was moving due west at a relatively slow pace of 5 miles per hour.
Bertha’s minimum central pressure was recorded at 998 millibars, with maximum sustained winds clocking in at approximately 50 mph. Those wind speeds are consistent with a moderate tropical storm.
Residents along the northern Gulf Coast should remain alert and follow guidance from local emergency management officials as the storm continues its westward progression.
