NOAA hurricane hunter aircraft are currently in the air investigating Tropical Storm Bertha as the storm continues to develop over the Gulf of Mexico.
As of 7:00 AM CDT on Tuesday, July 21, Bertha’s center was located near coordinates 28.8 degrees north, 86.2 degrees west, moving to the northwest at approximately 5 miles per hour.
The storm’s minimum central pressure was recorded at 997 millibars, with maximum sustained winds clocking in at around 50 mph.
Tropical storm watches and warnings remain active for portions of the northern Gulf Coast as forecasters continue to monitor the system’s track and intensity.
