Portland Trail Blazers center Robert Williams III is staying put, agreeing to a three-year contract extension worth $44 million that will keep him with the team through the 2028-29 season.
LIFT Sports Management confirmed the deal to ESPN.
The 28-year-old big man had a productive 2024-25 campaign coming off the bench, appearing in 59 games and averaging 6.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per contest. He also posted an impressive 70.8% shooting percentage from the field while serving as a backup to Donovan Clingan.
Williams originally came to Portland as part of the Jrue Holiday trade on October 1, 2023, when he was acquired from the Boston Celtics along with Malcolm Brogdon.
A decorated defender, Williams earned a second-team All-NBA Defensive Team nod following the 2021-22 season. Over the course of his career — split between Boston and Portland — he has appeared in 294 games, averaging 7.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. The Celtics selected him with the 27th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
