Linebacker Jordyn Brooks is staying in Miami. The veteran defender has agreed to a three-year contract extension with the Dolphins, keeping him as a central figure in the franchise’s rebuilding process, according to a person with knowledge of the agreement who spoke to The Associated Press.
The source requested anonymity because the team had not yet made an official announcement. ESPN was first to report the deal, valuing it at $51.3 million with $35 million in guaranteed money.
Brooks had a standout 2024 campaign, earning his first All-Pro selection after finishing as the NFL’s leading tackler with 183 total stops, including 99 solo tackles. His strong individual performance stood out during what was otherwise a rough season for the Dolphins — one that ended with general manager Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel both being let go.
New general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan had previously indicated the organization was committed to retaining Brooks for the long haul.
Originally selected by Seattle in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Brooks joined Miami as a free agent before the 2024 season. He quickly established himself as a locker room leader and has racked up 326 tackles and 6.5 sacks over the past two seasons.
Brooks is the third key player the Dolphins have signed as part of their rebuilding push. Miami locked up star running back De’Von Achane on a four-year, $64 million extension in March, and in June gave veteran center Aaron Brewer a three-year contract worth $52.5 million.
